Treats for Holiday Gifting

Peeps, I’ve collected some of my most fave food gifts for the holidays – aka those that travel well – and are easy to make and totally delicious. Moreover, I highly recommend making enough, so that you can be generous in your gifting, but also keep some for yourself. It’s called self-care, and I, for one, am into it. Happy holidays. XO

Peanut Brittle

This peanut brittle using honey-roasted peanuts is the perfect combo of salty, sweet, and snappy. It’s from my cookbook, The Vintage Baker, and it’s the perfect option for gifting this holiday season. RECIPE
Rice Krispie Treats with a secret ingredient | Jessie Sheehan Bakes

Rice Krispie Treats

Rice Krispie Treats were hands down my favorite treat as a child. I knew the recipe by memory and made them often. The version I’ve created as a baker whose had my fair share of the original calls for extra marshmallows, sweetened condensed milk, a teaspoon of sea salt, plus flaky salt for the top and a tablespoon of vanilla making them, in my opinion, the world’s best! Chocolate Pistachio Whirligigs | Food Gifts for the Holidays | Recipe by Jessie SheehanChocolate-Pistachio Whirligigs

These whirligigs are a fun and delicious addition to any cookie tray! Homemade pistachio paste is the key element to the wonderful nutty flavor, which complements the chocolate cookie. Of course, the pistachio coating adds even more to the flavor, while also adding a bit of crunch. RECIPE
Homemade Cracker Jacks | Jessie Sheehan Bakes

Homemade Cracker Jack

Homemade Cracker Jack is a great food gift for the holidays what with the salty, sweet, crunchy you get in every delectable bite. This recipe is from Diana Yen/The Jewels of New York’s cookbook, “A Simple Feast,” with just a few slight tweaks. RECIPE

Coconut Almond Fudge | Food Gifts for the Holidays | Jessie Sheehan Bakes

Coconut Almond Fudge

Oh how I love the combo of chocolate and olive oil and although I haven’t always been a fan of fudge, the fans of the fudge recipe in my second cookbook made me a believer. This fudge is filled with coconut and toasted almonds (which is a stellar combo, FYI), sprinkled with flaky sea salt and then drizzled with olive oil right before serving and wow is it ever tasty. Salty Caramels

These caramels are easy, the assembly is a snap, and the results are to die for. If there was ever a candy-crowd-pleaser, peeps, this is it. Yes, they are marvelous around the holidays, but, truly, they are marvelous around all the days. RECIPE

Are you a fan of fluffernutter? Then this is the recipe for you. Of course it has that irresistible combo of peanut butter and marshmallows, but what steps it up even more is the addition of sweetened condensed milk and white baking chocolate. RECIPE

Lindt Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe | Jessie Sheehan BakesLindt Triple Threat Chocolate “Chip” Cookies

Cookies make some of the best food gifts around the holidays because everyone can use more cookies. This Lindt chocolate “chip” cookie recipe calls for bread flour (for an extra chewy cookie), melted butter (again, adds to the chewiness), and a secret ingredient (rice krispies — I’m really not very good with secrets). RECIPE

Chocolate Marshmallow Walnut Fudge

This marshmallow walnut fudge is a great food gift as people just love it! Not only is it easy to prepare (due to the sweetened condensed milk), but it also freezes beautifully, and packages up well. I usually make a batch, remove it from the pan, cut and package and then freeze. RECIPE
